Revolutionizing Musculoskeletal Health through microcapsule drug delivery
Harnessing the power of the body's own natural forces to deliver therapeutics
Harnessing the power of the body's own natural forces to deliver therapeutics
Mechano Therapeutics is a biotech company specializing in microcapsule development using proprietary microfluidics for drug encapsulation. Our mission is to revolutionize musculoskeletal health using our innovative platform technology to enhance delivery of therapeutics for improving patient outcomes.
Our microcapsule platform technology offers a totally new approach of delivering therapeutics by encapsulating existing and novel drugs into the articulating joint whereby it activates drug release with force or motion
Spun out of the University of Pennsylvania, we leveraged our understanding of mechanobiology and orthopedics to develop the first drug delivery system that uses natural mechanical forces of the joint to control delivery of therapeutics
The microcapsules are formed using a proprietary microfluidic technology and double emulsion process in which we can encapsulate and release nearly any soluble drug or therapeutic of choice. Ideal payloads include small molecules, proteins, and biologics. We can synthesize size-controlled microcapsules at a range of 50+ microns. Fabrication uses PLGA, an FDA-approved biodegradable polymer for over 30 years.
Directive therapy and fewer potential systemic side effects
Release drugs 'on demand' based on mechanical forces of the joint
Maintains drug concentrations within the therapeutic range and fewer joint injections
Preserves drug activity and improves drug efficacy in joint tissues
